| Development in Stamford's Southern Area Among the agencies currently involved in Stamford's downtown development/revitalization are the following: The Stamford Downtown Special Services District, a free-standing body created in 1992, which works in cooperation with the City to promote the downtown's 17 square block area (the Old Town Hall is in the center), continues to promote Stamford's downtown and improve the quality of life overall in downtown Stamford. The agency maintains a separate DSSD Website which has many useful resources related to Stamford's downtown area. Development in Stamford's Central Business Area The development and redevelopment of the land and buildings in Stamford's Central business district is under the jurisdiction of two city agencies, the Stamford Planning Board and the Stamford Urban Redevelopment Commission (URC). Development in Stamford's Northern Area This organization, The North Stamford Association, is a group of residents dedicated to preserving North Stamford as a desirable place in which to live. |
