Schooner Cove lies along the Connecticut waterfront (Long Island Sound) in the Shippan section of Stamford, the southern-most, area of Stamford, approximately 38 miles from New York City. (SEE Yahoo Map below to obtain exact directions). Schooner Cove is an easy commute by Metro North (38 minutes via express train from NYC) or by car by using the I-95 Connecticut/New York Turnpike or the Merritt Parkway/Hutchinson River Parkway.
By car on the Connecticut Turnpike:
- Exit 8 off I-95
- Parallel I-95
- Turn onto Elm Street and drive under I-95
- Make the first right onto Jefferson St.
- Then the first left onto McGree (at the Buick Dealer)
- They the first right onto Harbor Drive
- Make a right into Schooner Cove (and adjacent Palmer Landing) after
about a mile.
From the Merritt Parkway:
- Take Exit 34 or Exit 35 and head south.
- Make a right at a large "bull's head" intersection and head south on
Washington Blvd.
- Make a left at the end of town onto Tresser Blvd.
- Make a right onto Elm Street. Then follow the directions above.
From north or south, Stamford is located off Exits 34 (Long Ridge Road) and 35 (High Ridge road) on the Merritt Parkway, and on Exits 7 (Greenwich Avenue), 8 (Atlantic/Elm Streets) and 9 (Cove) off I-95.
Some of Stamford's tallest buildings are clearly visible off I-95, including the giant UBS Inc. financial center and Thomson's financial group office. Stamford hosts a number of Fortune 500 companies, including portions of GE, International Paper, and more.
