How to Calculate Stamford's New Mill Rate

As of May 22, 2008, Stamford has new mill rates for calculating one's own
property taxes.

Here are the four new rates (by geographic area) for tax year 2007-2008:

A.  Tax District A (downtown, the South End, the East Side, the West Side,
Waterside, Shippan and Cove) - - 16.18

B.  Tax District B (Portions of Waterside, the South End and Westover) - -
15.82.

C. Tax District CS (Belltown, Glenbrook, Springdale and Turn of River - -
15.49

Your 2007 assessment, multiplied by it's mill rate of the tax district you live
in equals your property tax bill.

For example:

A $500,000 house in Glenbrook, with a tax assessment of $350,000
(70% of the property's approximate selling price) would have
property taxes of approximately $5,421.50

(The mill rate represents tax dollars owed for every $1,000 in property
value.)

The personal property tax rate (on office equipment) was set at 24 mills.
